Sigvart Dagsland, an award-winning Norwegian pop/rock singer and pianist, launched a recording career in the 1980s that has now stretched across multiple decades, with albums routinely landing inside the Top Ten. Born October 18, 1963, in Stavanger, Norway, he trained as a musician and composer after first sitting at the piano at age seven. His debut full-length solo album, Joker, appeared in 1985, and his fourth release, Alt Eg Såg (1990), earned him a Spellemannprisen, the Norwegian equivalent of a Grammy. Following years of near-misses just outside the upper tier, his eighth album, Det Er Makt I de Foldede Hender (1995), climbed to a career-best position inside the Norwegian Top Five. Subsequent releases that proved especially successful include the Top Ten entries Laiv (1996), Hjemmefra (2003), Underlig Frihet (2003), and Hymns (2009). Beyond the studio, Dagsland maintains a demanding live schedule, performing more than fifty concerts annually.
