Biography
Blending the vocal prowess of blink-182 frontman Mark Hoppus and All Time Low singer Alex Gaskarth, the Los Angeles outfit Simple Creatures fuses synth-pop and new-wave roots with a glossy modern pop finish that aligns them alongside Skyward Story, the Summer Set, and Anarbor. The pair launched the project in 2019 via the single “Drug,” which anchored their opening EP Strange Love.
Born from a longstanding rapport, the idea took shape in 2016 while Hoppus and Gaskarth shared tour bills with their main bands. Drawing heavily on the Cure, they set out to craft a side venture steeped in cherished eighties textures yet refreshed by a pop-inflected gloss. After unveiling the group in early 2019, they released “Drug” as the lead track on debut EP Strange Love through BMG; their follow-up EP, Everything Opposite, surfaced that October.
