Biography
Formed in Los Angeles by first-generation Mexican-Americans Sergio Garcia and Francisco Romo, Skellism broke through in 2014 with their take on DVBBS and Tony Junior’s “Immortal.” Backing from Steve Aoki and Carnage helped drive the track’s rapid rise, after which the pair joined Andreas Fresko to rework Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s “The Hum.” Steady club play led to the 2015 release of their first original single, “End of the Day,” which included guest vocals from Hype Turner. Blending hardstyle, EDM, and trap, the duo quickly became a festival draw, performing across the United States and traveling to Australia for the Sydney edition of Defqon 1. In 2016 they issued several further tracks, among them “Insanity,” “Jungle Warrior,” and the Junkie Kid collaboration “TIHS,” while maintaining a busy live schedule that included early previews of their forthcoming cut with Lil Jon and Terror Bass, “In the Pit.” When the single finally appeared in 2017 it ignited immediate dance-floor chaos, sparking mosh-pit surges wherever it was played.
