Biography
Mike Feuerstack, the singer and guitarist in Wooden Stars, launched Snailhouse as his own lo-fi solo outlet. He launched his career in the late '80s by joining the Underdogs, a Moncton, New Brunswick punk band, after moving to Ottawa, Ontario; in 1990 he started composing and tracking material under the Snailhouse name, only to set the project aside three years afterward once Wooden Stars came together. The band's self-titled debut and Snailhouse's initial full-length, Fine, both surfaced in 1995; twelve months later Feuerstack placed the Snailhouse single "Plans" on Julie Doiron's Sappy imprint. The Radio Dances followed in 1998, and the next year Wooden Stars supported Doiron on a complete LP that received the Juno Award for Best Alternative Album in Canada. Grand Theft Autumn reissued Fine during spring 2000.
