Biography
Mark Andrew Hamilton, a Canadian singer and songwriter, originated the indie rock and chamber pop ensemble Woodpigeon, a name condensed from the longer Woodpigeon Divided by Antelope Equals Squirrel simply to streamline matters. The project took shape in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2005 when it began as a trio focused primarily on busking. After returning to his hometown of Calgary, Hamilton adopted the abbreviated title and started work on his first release under that banner, the fittingly named Songbook. A limited pressing of Treasury Library Canada surfaced in 2008 before receiving a full commercial issue the following year, with Die Stadt Muzikanten appearing in 2010 and Thumbtacks and Glue following in 2013. Early 2016 brought T R O U B L E, the group's sixth studio album, which included contributions from David Thomas Broughton and Mary Margaret O'Hara.
