Biography
Socratic, hailing from New Jersey, brought together vocalists and guitarists Duane Okun and Kevin Bryan, percussionist Tom Stratton, bassist Adam Swider, and pianist Vincent D'Amico. The group first put out the EP It's Getting Late on No Milk in 2002 before switching to Drive-Thru to issue the full-length Lunch for the Sky in September 2005. That record captured the band’s sincere brand of emo-pop, built around a piano- and vocal-driven approach that echoed the Early November and the New Amsterdams. Live dates alongside Small Towns Burn a Little Slower, Tokyo Rose, and the Forecast preceded the free online release of the EP Just Turn in late 2006. The musicians headed back into the studio in 2007 to record Spread the Rumors, which appeared in May 2008.
