Biography
Recognized for his multicolored animal mask, Slow Magic operates as a mysterious DJ and producer whose synth-driven electronic productions blend ethereal textures with accessible pop appeal. He first surfaced via the 2012 release Triangle, then drew broader notice through How to Run Away in 2014 and Float in 2017.
Echoing the masked personas of Deadmau5, MF Doom, and Daft Punk, he issued his debut full-length, Triangle, in 2012 via the LebensStrasse label; the cover displayed only the geometric form, omitting the title itself. After the album appeared, he shared stages with Gold Panda and Xxyyxx while also supplying remixes for multiple Gold Panda recordings and for the Spanish indie dance outfit Delorean. A split single alongside Sun Glitters surfaced on LebensStrasse in 2014, the same year he delivered How to Run Away through Downtown, an imprint then distributed by Sony.
Shortly afterward, Interscope’s acquisition of Downtown triggered contractual complications that postponed his third album, Float, ultimately issued in 2017. Featuring guest contributions from MNDR and Tropics, the set also contained the track “Mind,” which showcased vocals by Kate Boy. The Away EP followed in 2018 and spotlighted the song “Go” with Toulouse. Slow Magic later entered a management agreement with Milk & Honey, leading to the Dreams EP that included joint work with Julianne Hope and Evalyn. The standalone single “Home” emerged in March 2020.
