Joseph LeMay works under the Sontalk name to shape atmospheric indie folk that carries an experimental soft rock edge, echoing the War on Drugs or Lord Huron. A contract with Sony Records set the stage for his first full-length release, Stay Wild, which appeared in 2019.

Before the Sontalk project took shape, LeMay lived briefly in New York and later moved to Nashville, where he trained in production with Charlie Peacock while beginning to lay down his own recordings. He issued a 2014 full-length titled Seventeen Acres under his given name, presenting a somewhat earthier blend of Americana and classic ’70s singer/songwriter textures.

Reinventing his work as Sontalk, LeMay arranged a Sony deal and delivered the 2018 single “Baby, I’m Gone,” which displayed a more polished, rock-driven sound. Early 2019 brought Stay Wild, his opening full-length under the Sontalk identity.
