Biography
Formed in Atlanta during the mid-2010s, the dreamlike R&B duo St. Beauty brought together lead vocalist Alex Belle and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Isis Valentino. Before joining the project Valentino had danced and sung background vocals for Janelle Monae while also holding membership in the artist collective Wondaland Arts Society. Their earliest public exposure arrived when the track “Going Nowhere” was featured on the Wondaland Arts Society-affiliated compilation Wondaland Presents: The Eephus in 2015. Afterward the pair issued several singles, among them 2016’s “Borders” and “Holographic Lover” plus 2017’s “Caught.” While sharpening their minimal and evocative approach in advance of a debut album, the duo delivered Running to the Sun in early 2018.
