Tanerélle

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, to a single mother, Tanerélle Stephens first chased an acting career that took her to Los Angeles for a college performing-arts program. Music soon claimed her attention, and the Atlanta native channeled the legacy of Southern trailblazers from OutKast to Usher into her own spaced-out, electronic brand of neo-soul, which surfaced with the 2015 debut single “Siren.” Crowdfunding underwrote the follow-up EP 11:11, released two years later, and the self-starting singer steadily enlarged her reach through successive independent projects. Considerable streams accrued to 2018’s “Love from Ngc 7318” and the 2019 releases “Continuum” and “Mama Saturn,” while the 2020 track “Nothing Without You” appeared in an episode of Issa Rae’s HBO series Insecure and “Star” earned a remix by A$AP Ferg. Subsequent tours supporting Ari Lennox and JoJo, the 2022 EP 82 Moons, and a series of additional singles kept momentum building until Republic Records offered a major-label contract in 2024. Electric Honey, her first album for the imprint, arrived the same year, more than a decade after she had begun recording.
