Biography
An artist operating in left-field pop realms, Kilo Kish has lent her voice to projects involving the Jet Age of Tomorrow, the Internet, Vince Staples, Childish Gambino, and Chet Faker, to name a few. Her initial solo outing came via the Homeschool EP in 2012, with the full-length debut Reflections in Real Time arriving four years afterward.
Lakisha Robinson entered the world in Orlando, Florida, and passed some early years in New Jersey before heading back to her birthplace, where she took part briefly in the pop outfit D'Angelz. Relocating to New York led her to the Pratt Institute for studies, alongside stints modeling and serving tables. Self-released in April 2012, the Homeschool EP marked her entry as a solo act, fronted by the dreamy track "Navy." Subsequent collaborations paved the way to a partnership with the music division of French fashion house Kitsuné, yielding the Across EP characterized by its atmospheric and relaxed R&B textures. Appearances on Etienne de Crécy's Super Discount 3 and Vince Staples' Summertime '06 occupied her in 2015. February 2016 brought the expansive Reflections in Real Time, an intimately revealing record shifting between complete compositions and brief interludes. Increased visibility resulted in features on Gorillaz' "Out of Body" and a track from Staples' Big Fish Theory during 2017. The mothe EP, her fourth, emerged in 2018 and spotlighted the single "Elegance." Redux, a five-track effort produced with Ray Brady, surfaced in December 2019.
