Biography
Tania de Jong combines a performing career with entrepreneurial work aimed at fostering creativity and innovation among people on society’s margins as well as among multinational corporations. She completed soprano and operatic studies at the Victorian College of the Arts and earned a law degree from the University of Melbourne. In 1987 she established the vocal ensemble Pot-Pourri to bring opera and musical theater to wider audiences. Between 1995 and 2012, de Jong and Pot-Pourri issued seven recordings and created an offshoot ensemble, the Warbles, devoted to programs for children. Among her additional initiatives is With One Voice, a choir open to participants irrespective of socioeconomic background and housed within her Creativity Australia organization, which also nurtures abilities beyond vocal performance and collaborative skills. She delivers corporate programs on leadership, team-building, and innovation, has delivered the TEDTalk “With One Voice,” and launched the yearly Creative Innovation conference that draws executives from across the Asia-Pacific region. She further operates the artist-management firm Musical Theater Australia. Amid these commitments, her debut solo album, Heaven on Earth, appeared in early 2015, featuring original compositions by Joe Chindamo together with new lyrics she supplied for well-known classical melodies.
