Biography
Tara Oram first drew breath in Gander, Newfoundland, and stepped into the spotlight as a Canadian country singer by issuing her earliest single, “More Than I Dreamed,” while still sixteen. Her real ascent, however, arrived at twenty-three when she placed sixth on the 2007 season of Canadian Idol. The exposure turned her into a household name almost overnight.
Within the following year she secured a contract with Open Road/Universal Music Canada, unveiled her debut full-length album Chasing the Sun, starred in the CMT reality series The Tara Diaries, taped a Christmas special of her own, and fulfilled a career highlight by opening for longtime idol Marty Stuart in Halifax.
A Juno nominee and CCMA Rising Star Award recipient, Oram returned in the summer of 2011 with her second album, anchored by the hit single “1929.”
