Emerging during a prolonged hiatus that well-liked French rock outfit Louise Attaque began in 2000, the duo Tarmac—comprising Arnaud Samuel and Gaëtan Roussel—lasted just long enough to issue its sole full-length effort, L'Atelier, in October 2001 while also appearing on a Georges Brassens tribute album. Their concluding performance took place at Paris’s Reservoir on December 23, 2003; the concert was captured and later issued as a 2004 release. Eventually the pair rejoined the remaining Louise Attaque members, allowing the group to resume its prior activity pattern.
