Templeton Pek came together as a melodic punk trio in Birmingham, England during 2005 and shaped a hard-edged style that fused West Coast American punk with sweeping alt-rock elements. The group—singer and bassist Neal Mitchell, guitarist and singer Kev Green, and drummer Simon Barford—issued its debut album, No Association, in 2009 and then spent the following two years on the road across Europe, steadily expanding its audience. Their second full-length effort, Scratches and Scars, appeared in 2011 after the band signed with the German division of California’s Long Beach Records; that summer they supported Rise Against on a European run of dates.

For the subsequent release, Signs, Templeton Pek journeyed to New York to work with producer Shep Goodman and placed the album with Century Media in 2013. The trio sustained strong visibility in both the U.K. and across Europe by sharing stages with veteran punk acts including Pennywise, Bad Religion, and NOFX. Moving to the California imprint Hardline Entertainment, they returned to the United States to track their 2015 album, New Horizons, in Hermosa Beach, California. Their fifth record, Watching the World Come Undone, emerged in early 2018 and addressed themes of political and social unrest.
