Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Ten Second Epic crafts alternative pop/rock that carries occasional emo inflections. Much like countless other groups, the members first bonded as high-school friends who started performing music together in the early 2000s before committing to the project on a full-time basis. The current roster features vocalist Andrew Usenik, guitarists Craig Spelliscy and Daniel Carriere, drummer Patrick Birtles, and bassist Sandy MacKinnon. In 2004 the band issued its self-released EP One More for the Road. Steady growth in hometown support followed, bolstered by endorsement from a regional radio outlet that helped expand the group’s reach, while live shows added momentum through appearances on the 2004 and 2005 Warped Tour as well as multiple independent crossings of Canada. These developments drew the notice of Black Box Recordings under Universal Music, resulting in a contract and the fall 2006 release of Count Yourself In, produced by GGGarth Richardson of Rise Against and Red Hot Chili Peppers fame. One song later earned a nomination for Best Independent Video at the 2007 MuchMusic Video Awards.
