Biography
Formed by musicians drawn from established Tejano outfits such as Culturas and Grupo Sol, Texas Latino stands out as an emerging act within the genre. Accordionist Candor "Candyman" Tovar and songwriter-guitarist Luis Ortiz arrived after their stint in Culturas. Grupo Sol veterans include lead vocalist and saxophonist Rick Acosta, bassist Manuel Enriquez, and drummer J.B. Hernandez, while Severo Contreras handles keyboards after prior work with Tiger Diaz. The group issues its recordings on the Manny/WEA Latina label.
