Biography
Tejano singer and accordionist Michael Salgado rose to attention during the mid-'90s by reviving the norteño style shaped by Ramon Ayala and bringing that approach to a new audience of younger listeners. At age 19 he assembled his supporting group, which included brothers Ernie and James handling guitar and drums along with bassist Joe Tanguma, and the ensemble first reached the Latin music charts in 1995 via the single "Cruz de Madera." The 1996 release En Concierto contained his biggest hit to date, the Top 20 track "Sin Ella." Mi Primer Amor appeared the following year.
