The Cedars

Enthusiasm for acts such as Doves, Elbow, and the Cure brought together the members of Cedars, who came together in Washington, D.C., during the first months of 2004, initially operating under the moniker Cartel and consisting of Brian Leatherman handling vocals and guitar, Luke Mangels on guitar and keyboard, Francisco Lazzaro playing bass, along with Ed Barnabas on drums. September 2004 saw the release of their Safety in Numbers EP, which featured a pair of singles issued in the U.K. via Bracken Records. By autumn of the following year, the group had adopted the name Cedars. Another Season, their next EP, appeared in September 2006, and Cedars gained significant exposure by supporting Editors during a performance in Washington, D.C.
