The Covenant

A Dutch metal outfit also presents itself under the moniker "The Original Covenant," yet the motivation remains unclear—whether it reacts to the 1993 act that served as a pseudonym for solo performer Dave Gryder or to the then-active industrial group. Formed initially as a five-piece in 1988, the group counts van der Reep and Stap among its only remaining originators. Their tracks deliver English-language verses in established idioms, marked by a persistent, shadowy tone and a clear debt to Black Sabbath alongside Uriah Heep. Following the well-worn path of numerous metal acts, the most recent offering takes the shape of a concert recording simply titled Live!
