The Dingees, a Christian ska-punk ensemble based in the Orange County, CA region, originated in summer 1996 as a side project assembled by Supertones members together with several associates. Pegleg (vocals) and Dave Chevalier (sax) formed the core and enlisted bassist Bean along with drummer Tony Terusa (bassist for the Supertones), Supertones guitarist Bronson, and two additional Orange County scene participants—trombonist Jon Bon and guitarist Jeff Holmes. Club dates and a recording contract arrived soon afterward, though repeated lineup changes occurred once the Supertones’ touring schedule intensified; drummer Ethan Luck then teamed with Pegleg, Bean, and Jeff Holmes to record the band’s 1998 debut, Armageddon Massive. Further adjustments followed as Chevalier returned and Holmes exited, first yielding his spot to Brad and later to Aaron. The second album, Sundown to Midnight, appeared in 1999, with Crucial Conspiracy released two years afterward.
