Biography
Guitarist Brad Worrell and vocalist Eleanor Whitledge launched The Goops in 1992. Multiple lineup shifts occurred before bassist Steve Mazur and drummer Jeff Bennison joined, enabling the band to record its self-titled debut for Blackout! Records. The punk-popsters shared stages with Rancid and the Offspring, then issued the hybrid single-and-comic release “On the Road with the Goops.” Reprise Records placed the group on its Kinetic subsidiary, which delivered the follow-up album Lucky in 1996. The Goops also placed a track on the Mallrats film soundtrack.
