Biography
The Hesitations, a vocal group from Cleveland, focused on infusing overtly pop melodies with soulful interpretations, a signature approach best illustrated by their major R&B success, an evocative 1968 recording of the theme from the film Born Free. Their first R&B chart entry arrived in 1967 under the title "Soul Superman," yet greater recognition came from tracks such as "The Impossible Dream" and "Who Will Answer," selections far removed from conventional soul repertoire. Lead singer George "King" Scott succumbed to a gunshot wound in February of 1968.
