Sydney, Australia-based quartet the Lazy Eyes craft rainbow-hued psychedelic rock that balances classic 1960s psych influences with tougher hard-rock edges and a refined command of instrumental skill. After performing extensively across Australia for several years, the group issued their debut EP in 2020, then swiftly delivered a follow-up the subsequent year before unveiling their debut full-length, the agreeably sharp Songbook, in 2022.

The Lazy Eyes first assembled near 2015 when vocalists and guitarists Harvey Geraghty and Itay Shachar joined drummer Noah Martin at Sydney’s Newtown High School of the Performing Arts. Following a stretch of street performances around the city, they recruited bassist Leon Karagic and began appearing live under the Lazy Eyes name. Roughly five years of gradual songwriting, tracking, and polishing led to their initial EP (titled EP1), which appeared in 2020. By then the group’s intricate yet effortless psych-rock approach had crystallized, allowing EP2 to surface the following year. Growing interest in the Lazy Eyes reached a peak just as the quartet prepared their first album. Ahead of its April 2022 arrival they offered the propulsive single “Where Is My Brain?” and the brooding “Fuzz Jam,” after which summer tour dates were scheduled in support of Songbook.
