Biography
Having grown up in the Memphis region, Lewis Clark later relocated to Illinois and entered the music business via radio. Influenced by the Motown sound along with rhythm and blues infused with gospel, he earned recognition as a disc jockey throughout the state while performing under the name the Blues Doctor. At numerous gospel events he not only spun records but also stepped forward to sing on occasion. In 1997 he adopted the name the Love Doctor and issued Midnight Recipe on the Nutrition label. Frequently likened to Otis Redding and Stan Mosely, he followed with the April 2001 album Doctor Of Love on Mardis Gras, which attracted modest notice even as he remained undeterred. That persistence led to the 2002 release of Moaning And Groaning, again on Mardis Gras. Blending soul, gospel, and rhythm and blues, he has appeared at venues across Illinois and received coverage in publications such as Illinois Entertainer.
