Biography
The Sheila Divine, an alternative rock trio, came together officially in Boston. Guitarist and vocalist Aaron Perrino first encountered drummer Shawn Sears in a music theory course at Oneonta State University in New York, after which Sears took on management of Perrino’s prior outfit, the Waverlys. That band dissolved following a relocation to Boston, prompting Perrino to launch the Sheila Divine alongside bassist Jim Gilbert, an acquaintance from Oneonta. Sears later took over from the original drummer, and three months afterward the group secured a contract with Roadrunner Records. Their five-track debut EP surfaced in 1998 to raise the band’s profile before the 1999 arrival of the full-length album The New Parade.
