Biography
Mike Caldwell on vocals, Corby Lund on bass, Dug Bevans on guitar, and Terry Johnson on drums formed the smalls in 1990 while living in rural Alberta, where a shared taste for jazz and country prompted the four to start a band as a diversion from community college classes in Edmonton. Drawing on Nomeansno, D.O.A., and SNFU, the group put out its self-titled debut on its own imprint that same year, then issued To Each a Zone in 1992 and Waste and Tragedy in 1995. Following repeated tours across North America and Corby Lund’s decision to concentrate on his aptly named county act the Corb Lund Band, the smalls delivered its fourth album, My Dear Little Angel, via Green Pepper Records in 1999.
