Biography
Tommy Giles Rogers, Jr., known professionally as Thomas Giles, functions as vocalist, keyboardist, and songwriter in heavy metal and electronic realms, earning widest notice through his longstanding role in the metalcore group Between the Buried and Me. He entered the world in Morganton, North Carolina, in 1980. Early visibility came through membership in the progressive metal band Prayer for Cleansing, where he performed between 1999 and 2000. Once that outfit disbanded, he launched Between the Buried and Me, resulting in a succession of acclaimed albums such as The Silent Circus from 2003, The Great Misdirect from 2009, The Parallax II: Future Sequence from 2012, and Automata from 2018. Outside that core band, Giles pursued separate ventures including the electronic project Giles and the duo Jacob Rogers alongside musician Jacob Troth. His initial solo album, Pulse, surfaced in 2011 on Metal Blade. Three years later came the follow-up solo effort Modern Noise, and in 2018 he secured a Sumerian contract before delivering his third solo release, Don't Touch the Outside.
