Thutmose

Attention arrived for Thutmose, the melodic rapper whose verses convey a composed fervor, through widespread online traction. The artist, originally from Lagos, Nigeria, escaped alongside his family in the wake of the catastrophic 2002 armory blast and settled in Brooklyn, New York City. Although his first commercial tracks surfaced during 2016, a mid-2017 video of him freestyling across the instrumental of Kendrick Lamar's "HUMBLE." produced the decisive breakthrough through its audacious approach. That footage simultaneously revealed his affiliation with the management firm TH3RD BRAIN, after which he issued "Summer's Gone," "Still I Rise," "Blame," and "WuWu" in rapid order. Early 2018 brought the further releases "Karma" and "Ride with Me." Across these tracks Thutmose demonstrated ease moving between understated trap frameworks and polished dance-pop surfaces. In 2018 the single "Rounds" appeared, which included a feature from Jay Critch.
