Australian DJ, songwriter, and producer tyDi trained at a conservatory and built a worldwide reputation through his wide-ranging trance and house productions. Tyson Illingworth entered the world in Mooloolaba, Australia, in 1987, and trance along with other techno styles captured his attention during early adolescence. Although he performed on drums throughout secondary school, he later acquired DJ turntables and claimed top honors at the Brisbane DJ Wars at sixteen. Following graduation he moved to Brisbane and completed a Bachelor of Music Technology degree at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. During his studies he continued playing live, steadily cultivating an audience through regular sets at the city’s The Family nightclub. That momentum led to his 2008 victory as the youngest winner ever of the InTheMix Top 50 DJs in Australia poll.

Upon finishing conservatory work in 2009 he issued his first album, Look Closer, which reached number two on the Australian dance chart. Two years afterward he unveiled the follow-up Shooting Stars, which topped the dance charts in Australia, Canada, and the U.K. while featuring vocal contributions from Tania Zygar, Brianna Holan, and Audrey Gallagher. In 2012 he assembled the dance-mix collection Global Soundsystem 2012: California, and the next year he issued Hotel Room, a compilation devoted to his chillout and non-dance material.

Redefined, his fourth solo album, appeared in 2014 and explored a broader electronic range that incorporated vocals by Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carrabba and the Ready Set’s Jordan Witzigreuter. Additional standalone singles arrived in 2016, among them “Oceans,” recorded with Jack Novak and Greyson Chance, and “Lost,” which featured Asiahn. Further tracks surfaced the following year, including “Beautiful War” with Lola Rhodes and “Closing In” alongside Christopher Tin and Dia Frampton.
