Singer TYSM crafts stripped-down yet catchy electropop after being discovered by producer Felix Snow, whose prior collaborations include work with Kiiara, SZA, Icona Pop, and Terror Jr. Born Chelsea Davenport, she spent her childhood in Seguin, Texas, performing in local musical theater productions from an early age. Her training later took her through San Antonio's North East School of the Arts, Boston's Emerson College, and the Los Angeles program at Emerson. While employed as a waitress, she encountered Snow at the Rose Bowl; after he requested a vocal audition, Snow and his EFFESS label partner David Singer-Vine elected to collaborate with her. TYSM, whose name expands to "thank you so much" as an expression of her gratitude for being able to create, drew on the aftermath of a difficult breakup for her debut single "Honeymoon Phase," a frothy, minimalistic track that surfaced in early 2017 and accumulated hundreds of thousands of online plays during its opening week. She followed with the even more delicate "Wraith" later that same year.
