American R&B singer and songwriter VEDO emerged with a polished, romantic approach that echoes Usher, the artist who mentored him during season four of NBC’s The Voice. Three albums and several widely streamed singles marked his activity through the latter half of the 2010s, yet the brooding 2020 single “You Got It,” taken from his fourth LP For You, marked the true commercial breakthrough. He capitalized on that momentum the next year with the album 1320, then issued Mood Swings and 7 in 2023 before unveiling Next Chapter and its single “Spinn on You” in 2024.
Born in Benton Harbor, Michigan, VEDO started performing at nine. Following a nomadic upbringing, he finished high school in Atlanta, where he sharpened both his vocal and songwriting abilities. National exposure arrived in 2013 through his run on the singing competition The Voice; after reaching the Top 12, he joined the roster of Platinum Power Moves and delivered his 2015 debut album, 93, whose streaming standout was “4 Walls.” Subsequent releases arrived at a steady clip: the 2016 EP State of Mind, the 2017 full-length From Now On, and a series of remixes. His self-titled 2019 album contained the popular streaming cut “Let’s Get Married.” Issued twelve months later, For You became his breakthrough project once its dark-toned single “You Got It” accumulated hundreds of millions of streams. Building on that success, 2021’s 1320 arrived with contributions from Eric Bellinger, Jacquees, and Ari Lennox. In 2022 he joined OG Parker and Atlanta’s Baby Tate for the slow jam “Come First,” while the heartfelt, Needlz-produced track “Forever” served as the lead single for Mood Swings. That 2023 album showcased guest spots from Chris Brown, Tink, Ari Lennox, Lloyd, Eric Bellinger, and Erica Banks. Later the same year he released 7, whose singles included “Intentional” and “Luv to a FCK Song.” March 2024 brought the smooth R&B track “Spinn on You,” which preceded the long-player Next Chapter.
