Led by the Volovitch brothers—Frédéric on vocals and guitar alongside Olivier in the same roles—Volo emerged as a French pop outfit whose first full-length release, Bien Zarbos, arrived in 2005. Although the siblings now operate out of Paris, their roots lie in the Tours region of France. Frédéric, the elder of the pair and born May 14, 1974, also performs with Les Wriggles. His recording history began inside that humorous, theatrical chanson ensemble, which Christophe Gendreau (vocals, guitar), Stéphane Gourdon (vocals, guitar), Antoine Réjasse (vocals, guitar), and Franck Zerbib (vocals) established in 1995 together with Volovitch himself on vocals and guitar. Les Wriggles issued their debut album, Justice Avec des Saucisses, in 1997 and later climbed into the French Top 20 with Moi d'Abord in 2005. Frédéric subsequently launched Volo alongside Olivier and a rhythm section of Hugues Barbet on guitar, Theo Girard on bass, and Enrico Mattioli on drums. The group returned to Opera Music for Bien Zarbos in 2005, then delivered Blancs Manteaux à Volo in 2006, Jours Heureux in 2007, and the three-track Bref EP in 2008. Their most commercially notable effort to date, En Attendant, surfaced in 2009, yielded the singles “Dimanche” and “Réguler,” and reached the Top 100 of the French albums chart.
