Biography
Ireland’s quintet Walking on Cars crafts emotionally charged pop anthems that blend folk inflections, indie-electronic textures, and synth-driven rock. Attention first arrived via the 2012 single “Catch Me If You Can,” paving the way for the chart-topping 2016 release Everything This Way.
The ensemble formed in Dingle, County Kerry, during 2010 and revolves around vocalist and principal songwriter Patrick Sheehy. Their victory in that year’s Red Bull Bedroom Jam Competition secured airplay and placed “Catch Me If You Can” inside the Irish Top 30; the follow-up “Two Stones” climbed still higher, reaching number 12. A four-track EP titled As We Fly South surfaced in 2013. January 2016 brought the Virgin EMI debut full-length Everything This Way, which held the summit of the Irish albums chart for three weeks and registered across multiple other European territories. Two additional singles appeared in late 2018, setting the stage for the April 2019 arrival of the band’s second album, Colours.
