Melding electronica with smooth indie R&B and lush synth pop, Seattle native Jaymes Young first drew notice in early 2013 via the EP Dark Star, then attracted wider interest upon releasing his 2017 full-length Feel Something.

Born James McFarland in 1991 in Seattle, Washington, he received early encouragement to pursue music, taking up guitar and songwriting during his teenage years. Following high school he joined the Seattle-based indie rock outfit Corner State, later relocating to Los Angeles. There he assumed the stage name Jaymes Young, secured a deal with Atlantic, and issued his 2013 debut EP Dark Star. Shortly afterward he embarked on a major tour supporting London Grammar and followed with the 2014 EP Habits of My Heart. That same year he appeared on David Guetta’s track “I’ll Keep Loving You” alongside Birdy, and the next year he and singer Phoebe Ryan released their joint single “We Won’t.”

In early 2017 Young issued the soulful singles “Stoned on You” and “Feel Something,” the latter supplying the title for his debut full-length album, which arrived that June and featured the gold-certified track “I’ll Be Good.” He contributed to the 2018 song “Same Soul” with PVRIS and Marian Hill, then released the stand-alone single “Spaces” in October 2020. A deluxe edition of Feel Something, adding the bonus tracks “Happiest Year” and “Nothing Holy,” surfaced in 2022.
