Biography
Kendra Egerbladh crafts an immersive strain of intimate pop under the Waterbaby alias from her Stockholm base, merging understated natural folk textures with refined R&B phrasing and electronic polish. Initial attention arrived via her atmospheric duet “Stockholmsvy” alongside Swedish compatriot Hannes, after which Sub Pop extended a recording contract and released the debut EP Foam during 2023.
Tracing a path set by her jazz-pianist grandfather, Egerbladh spent her formative years performing in choral ensembles while privately aspiring toward the expansive, emotionally charged R&B of major stars she admired. Over time her songwriting evolved into a subtler register. Partnership with producer Marcus White yielded restrained yet hook-driven pop that examined infatuation, romantic loss, and the emotional terrain between those poles. In 2021 she contributed vocals to alt-pop artist Seinabo Sey’s notable track “Sweet Life.” The following year the Hannes collaboration “Stockholmsvy” emerged—a measured, folk-tinged success that broadened Waterbaby’s reach to wider listeners. Sub Pop, the American imprint, subsequently offered a deal in 2023. Lead singles “Airforce Blue” and “911” showcased an easy blend of shadowy pop atmospheres and memorable melodies; both cuts later featured on the Foam EP.
