British house trio X-Press 2 formed around former record store manager Ashley Beedle—also known as Black Science Orchestra—alongside DJ Diesel and DJ Rocky, the latter performing under the alias Problem Kids. The three first entered electronic music circles in 1993 as members of the post-acid house project Ballistic Brothers. Their debut chart success arrived that October when the single "Say What" reached number 32 on the U.K. listings. X-Press 2 issued the track "AC/DC" in October 2000, then followed it the next year with "Muzikizum" and "Smoke Machine." In 2002 the deep house cut "Lazy" paved the way for their first full-length album, Muzikizum, which included guest contributions from electro/pop act Yello's Dieter Meier and Talking Heads' David Byrne. The group's sophomore effort, Makeshift Feelgood, surfaced in 2006. Two further releases landed in 2008: the album Coast2Coast and the retrospective Raise Your Hands (Best of X-Press 2).
