Yak

Yak formed as a London-based English trio steeped in noise rock and garage punk, notable for its edgy magnetism and striking visual appeal. The project originated with Black Country-raised suburbanites Oli Burslem and Andy Jones alongside New Zealand-born drummer Elliot Rawson.

Drawing on the sonic force of the Hives and the White Stripes as well as the unpredictable pop leanings of the Velvets, Television, and the Fall, the group began appearing publicly in late 2014 and delivered its debut single, “Hungry Heart,” in February 2015. Third Man Records released the EP No that October, and the long-awaited first album, Alas Salvation, arrived in May 2016.

Andy Jones exited after Alas Salvation, with Vincent Davies joining in 2017. Yak resurfaced in February 2019 with Pursuit of Momentary Happiness on Third Man, followed by the four-song EP Atlas Complex.
