Yodelice, the French pop singer and songwriter, launched his first full-length release in 2009, an international success titled Tree of Life. Born Maxim Nucci in Créteil, France, on February 23, 1979, he took up music early and spent time studying in England. Around the start of the new millennium he turned professional, quickly earning recognition as a producer and songwriter behind numerous hits. His initial breakthrough came producing the Popstars-created girl group L5, among them the chart-topping “Toutes les Femmes de Ta Vie” in 2001 and the Top Ten single “Une Étincelle” in 2002. He next partnered with Star Academy winner Jenifer Bartoli, commonly known simply as Jenifer, handling writing and production for the hits “Serre-Moi” (2005), “Tourner Ma Page” (2007), and “Comme un Hic” (2008). Additional work included the Top 20 single “Jusqu’à la Tolérance” (2005) created with French pop singer Ginie Line. Amid these projects, Nucci issued his own debut album in 2006, the French-language Maxim Nucci, released through Mercury Records. Though that effort achieved limited notice, he found wider acclaim three years later with Tree of Life, an English-language set issued on Mercury Records under the Yodelice name. Co-written with Marianne Groves, the album reached number 11 on the French charts; its lead track, “Sunday with a Flu,” registered strongly across France as well as in Switzerland and Belgium.
