Biography
Hailing from California's East Bay region, AG Club merges an eclectic range of styles that stretch from indie rock and pop through R&B into Memphis rap, while eyeing expansion into film and television. Their catalog, highlighted by the 2020 project Halfway Off the Porch and 2022's Imposter Syndrome, mixes atmospheric confessionals with swaggering anthems, and the cinematic Brodie World arrived in 2024.
Formed in 2017 in Brentwood, California, where the members tracked material inside a garage, the outfit first operated as the Nameless Collective before adopting the name AG Club, an abbreviation for Avant Garde Club. Its core roster comprises producer/vocalist Loui, rapper/writer Jody Fontaine, guitarist/vocalist Mick Anthony, vocalist/designer Baby Boy, and designer/video director Manny. Taking cues from 2010s alternative rap collectives such as Odd Future and A$AP Mob, the artists united to create music apart from the standard Bay Area hip-hop sound. Steady releases of songs and videos helped them build a regional following through Northern California performances. Wider notice followed the arrival of the nine-song EP Halfway Off the Porch in early 2020; NLE Choppa and A$AP Ferg added verses to a remix of its breakthrough track, "Memphis." After relocating to Los Angeles, the group issued "Columbia" ahead of its next major effort. The two-part FYE (Fuck Your Expectations) surfaced in 2021, and the full-length Imposter Syndrome appeared in 2022. A handful of 2023 tracks preceded the 2024 album Brodie World.
