Age of Silence

Hailing from Norway, the avant-garde metal supergroup Age of Silence unites an assortment of players drawn from the local scene, among them Borknagar keyboardist Lars A. Nedland, who takes on vocal duties under the alias Lazare, By Pale Light guitarists Joacim Solheim (now called Extant) and Helge K. Haugen (now Kobbergaard), Khold bassist Lars Eric Si (now Eikind), Winds keyboard player Andy Winter, and the storied Mayhem drummer Hellhamer. Their debut joint recording, Acceleration from 2004, steers clear of any predictable course by fusing rock, classical, progressive, and metallic idioms through strikingly unorthodox pairings, notwithstanding the members’ shared background in Norwegian black metal.
