Biography
Algebra Blessett, the Atlanta, Georgia R&B singer and songwriter, first drew attention through background vocal work on two 1998 releases—the remix of KP & Envyi's "Swing My Way," included on the Can't Hardly Wait soundtrack, and Babydoll's EastWest single "Don't Wanna Lose Your Love." Before delivering her debut album Purpose in February 2008 on the revitalized Kedar label, she appeared on projects by India.Arie (Voyage to India), Debra Killings (Surrender), Miri Ben-Ari (The Hip-Hop Violinist), and Eric Roberson (...Left). Carvin & Ivan, Adonis Stropshire, and Bryan-Michael Cox supplied production, and the set reached number 56 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart. Further sessions with Anthony David, Vivian Green, and Esperanza Spalding occupied her throughout 2012. Recovery, her second album, surfaced on eOne in January 2014.
