Amigo

Amigo, the affable country-rock outfit headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, excels at fusing high-energy rockabilly and roots rock modeled on Jonathan Richman and Doug Sahm with emotionally charged folk-rock echoing Gram Parsons and the Band. Operating as a lively honky-tonk dance unit that harbors a punk sensibility, the three-piece assembled in 2012 around guitarist and vocalist Slade Baird, drummer Adam Phillips, and bassist Craig Lentz. The band launched its first national tour in 2014 behind the debut album Might Could, produced by Scott Solter of Superchunk and the Mountain Goats renown. Their 2017 follow-up, And Friends, delivered an exuberant yet personal program shaped by an eclectic range of touchstones that encompassed 1950s doo wop, John Prine, Hank Williams, the Replacements, Tom Petty, and Dinosaur Jr.
