Biography
Arrow Benjamin, who grew up in Brixton, London, earned recognition as a singer and songwriter chiefly through his vocal performance and co-writing role on the major hit “Runnin’ (Lose It All)” alongside English DJ and producer Naughty Boy. That recording also served as his initial partnership with R&B superstar Beyoncé. Raised within a tight and affectionate family, Benjamin absorbed reggae, deep house, groove, funk, and numerous additional styles that later shaped his songwriting. Without access to instruments during his upbringing, he cultivated his voice as the primary instrument and started composing material that found its way to collaborators such as Major Lazer, Labrinth, and Rudimental. Describing himself as “the midwife” while referring to his songs as “his babies,” and drawing on his affable disposition, Benjamin took on the role of leader and chief songwriter for the Live Vynl production collective.
He was soon enlisted to co-write the aforementioned chart success featuring Beyoncé, an experience that directly preceded the release of his debut WAR (We All Rise) EP. Already likened to Gnarls Barkley and, in certain aspects, the Weeknd, the five-track project moves fluidly across genres, atmospheres, and approaches while remaining rooted in original material.
