Ayo Jay

Born in London yet raised in Lagos, Nigeria, singer Ayoola Ogundeyi, Jr., who performs as Ayo Jay, draws his sound from West African pop as readily as from Western R&B and rap. Early admirers of Usher, Akon, and Nigerian artist 2face Idibia, he sang from childhood, though only after finishing college in the U.S. did he begin treating music as a viable profession. In 2011 he contacted several producers to develop his material, and within a few years he had signed with One Nation Entertainment and started issuing singles. One early standout, the bright and catchy “Your Number,” was later re-recorded with rapper Fetty Wap in 2015. Further releases such as “Gbadun” and “Ibadi Yen” followed in 2016 while Jay readied his debut album.
