Bend Sinister

Bend Sinister, a Canadian band whose name derives from Vladimir Nabokov's 1947 dystopian novel, merges indie pop with progressive rock while drawing influence from Queen, ELO, Supertramp, Can, Steely Dan, and Black Sabbath. Established in Vancouver, British Columbia in 2001 and fronted by vocalist/keyboardist Dan Moxon, the group put out the EP The Warped Pane before delivering their first full-length album, Through the Broken City, in 2005. Their self-titled EP followed in 2007, then the sophomore album Stories of Brothers, Tales of Lovers arrived in 2008. Spring Romance appeared as an EP in 2010 and On My Mind in 2012, after which Small Fame, the band's third studio album, surfaced late that same year. Animals came out in 2014, and 2017 brought The Other Way, recorded by Moxon with drummer Dicky Neptune, bassist Matt Rhode, and guitarist Joseph Blood.
