South Korean vocalist BIBI crafts material that draws from R&B, hip-hop, pop, rock, and ballad traditions. A second-place finish on the reality program The Fan opened the door to two EPs and several well-received singles, among them the 2019 track “Binu,” the 2020 release “Kazino,” and the 2021 success “The Weekend.” Another standout arrived in 2022 when she supplied the ballad “Very, Slowly” for the romantic drama series Twenty-Five, Twenty-One. Yet it was the 2024 chart-topper “Bam Yang Gang” that firmly established her mainstream presence.

Kim Hyung-seo, born in Ulsan, developed her voice and guitar skills before posting original compositions on a streaming platform that caught the ear of K-pop performer Yoon Mi-rae. Adopting the name BIBI, she joined the Feel Ghood Music roster and competed on the 2018-2019 edition of SBS’s The Fan. Her distinctive ability and stylistic breadth secured second place, leading to the official debut single “Binu” in May 2019. The EP The Manual for People Who Want to Love followed one month afterward, with further singles “I’m Good at Goodbyes” and “Kazino” appearing in 2020. Guest spots alongside Zico, Kim Hee-chul, and Min Kyung-hoon preceded the 2021 EP Life Is a Bi…, which featured the popular cut “Bad Sad and Mad.” After “The Weekend” gained further streaming traction, BIBI contributed “Very, Slowly” to the third season of Twenty-Five, Twenty-One.

November 2022 brought her first full-length album, Lowlife Princess: Noir, which reached number seven on the Korean charts and included the tracks “BIBI Vengeance” and “Animal Farm.” Singles such as “I Am Shampoo” and the 2023 collaboration “Amigos” with Becky G sustained her visibility, yet the gentle 2024 single “Bam Yang Gang” propelled her to widespread recognition. Built around piano and snare drum, the sweet waltz marked a clear departure from her earlier, darker work, holding the top spot on Korean pop charts for multiple weeks while reaching the upper half of Billboard’s Global 200. A few months afterward she teamed with Jackson Wang on “Feeling Lucky.”
