Biography
Breakfast in Fur, the shape-shifting indie rock unit based in New Paltz, New York, amid the Catskills, derives its name from a 1936 sculpture by Swiss surrealist and photographer Méret Oppenheim. The ensemble, assembled in 2007 around Dan Wolfe, Kaitlin Van Pelt, Mike Hollis, Chris Walker, and Pete Newman yet originally limited to Wolfe and Van Pelt alone, produces experimental confections laced with psych textures while touching on IDM, post-rock, folk, and ambient pop. An independent eponymous EP steeped in bedroom folk appeared in 2011, preceding a contract with Bar/None Records; the more psych-rock-focused debut long-player Flyaway Garden then surfaced in February 2015.
