Burn Halo, a mainstream hard rock outfit fronted by James Hart, the former lead vocalist of Eighteen Visions, issued its first album in 2009. Headquartered in Orange County, California, the group originated in 2007 when Hart assembled it after the breakup of his prior band, Eighteen Visions, an alternative metal act founded in 1995 that attained limited mainstream traction through its final release, Eighteen Visions (2006). Seeking to create a direct mainstream hard rock album with strong commercial prospects, Hart partnered closely with songwriter and producer Zac Maloy, previously of the Nixons, to develop a complete set of songs tracked with session players including Synyster Gates, guitarist of Avenged Sevenfold. The live roster was completed by guitarists Joey Cunha and Allen Wheeler, bassist Aaron Baylor, and drummer Ryan Folden, who came aboard in 2009, with Hart on vocals. Burn Halo released its self-titled debut full-length in 2009 via Rawkhead Rekords in conjunction with distributor Warner Music Group. The single “Dirty Little Girl,” which featured Gates on guitar, registered as a hit at mainstream rock radio. The band took part in the 2009 SnoCore Tour to promote the album.
