Burning Heads

Orleans, France, hardly seems a natural birthplace for New York-style hardcore or aggressive punk, yet Burning Heads arose there in 1998. The group’s roster included Phil on guitar and vocals, DJ TDK on drums and vocals, JYB on bass and vocals, and P. Samprass on guitar and vocals. Sematary Records issued the band’s earliest efforts—a self-titled EP in 1991 and a self-titled album in 1993—before Burning Heads moved to Play It Again Sam Records in 1994. Three full-length projects followed: Dive in 1994, Super Modern World in 1996, and the Epitaph Records-supported Be One With the Flames, which received European distribution in 1998. A subsequent arrangement with Chicago’s Victory Records brought the fifth album, Escape, to American listeners in late 1999.
